AC Slater Teams With Tchami For Bass Filled House Collab "Dealer" Ft. Rome Fortune

Los Angeles based producer AC Slater has just dropped a massive collaboration with Tchami and Rome Fortune titled “Dealer” via OWSLA. This collaborative effort is the second time we’ve heard from Tchami in the past week following his refreshing single “World To Me” last Friday. However, this latest release belongs to AC Slater and is a crazy house tune that is sure to tear up some ballrooms in the near future.

“Dealer” commences with a tense snare pattern which takes listeners right into a super unique breakdown that revolves around Rome Fortune’s vocal performance. The track then settles while deep synths slowly emerge from the background carrying the song into its grungy-bass filled drop. “Dealer” is a chaotic party-starter that we are loving… Enjoy!

Dog Blood's "Shred Or Die" Receives Incredible New Remix From Rising Producer Hex Cougar

$

Hex Cougar is an artist to keep an eye on with his tracks capturing the essence of both melodic euphoria and heavy impact. His recent remix of Kaskade and deadmau5’s “Move For Me” is a prime example. For his latest effort, Hex Cougar has remixed Dog Blood’s track “Shred Or Die,” which leans more toward the grimier side of things.

From the get-go, we can tell that Hex Cougar has drawn inspiration from Dog Blood in this remix, with a quirky, upbeat intro complete with laser samples and tribal drums. Instead of the metal guitar progression from the original, he drops the track with a huge, distorted bass that tears through subtle, white noise. He brings back the vibe from the intro while continuing with another dirty, percussive bass synth to tie it all together.

Here’s what Hex Cougar had to say about his remix: “dog blood is one of my favorite EDM supergroups of all time, and in honor of them reuniting soon i wanted to release this lil flip i did of one of their best songs.” Hex Cougar, the Dog Blood fan that he is, has undoubtedly seen their recent announcement that they are working on new material. Maybe they’ll drop Hex Cougar’s “Shred Or Die” remix at their Hard Summer set next month. Check it out for yourself below and enjoy!

It’s been just over two years since Swedish duo Galantis dropped their debut album in June of 2015, catapulting their way from rising artists to internationally known producers. Back in May of this year the two stepped back into the scene with new music, dropping a relaxed, dancehall-style track called “Hunter.” Today Galantis has continued that momentum, dropping yet another new single “True Feeling,” accompanied by an official music video and album announcement.

“True Feeling” draws you in from the first note with a subdued, tropical-style lead-in. The lyrics pair well with the steady build of the production, breaking into a lighthearted drop that ties together tropical notes, upbeat percussion and smooth vocals. The video is equally fun-loving, following the duo’s journey on tour while incorporating simple animations and quotes from fans talking about what Galantis means to them.

This single follows the exciting announcement of Galantis’s sophomore album, The Aviary, slated to release on September 15 via Big Beat Records (pre-order available here). Beyond fresh new music, the two paired with notable art instagram @StreetArtGlobe and their extensive group of artists to tag Galantis-themed murals in countries all across the world. The vibrant, neon-drenched works can be found from Auckland to London and just about everywhere in between, and fans are encouraged to post photos to Instagram with the hashtag #GalantisAviary to get the word out about their newest project. In the meantime, check out “True Feeling” below and enjoy!

Dave Chappelle Interviews Kendrick Lamar On Self Expression, Going To Africa & More

Wow Dave Chappelle just interviewed Kendrick Lamar… While we with it was a video interview we’ll gladly take the text interview they did with Interview Magazine as these are two of our favorite people in the world.

Chappelle and Kendrick found some common ground in the conversation as Chappelle got some great answers out of Kdot in the rare interview that is just the perfect intersection of two icons. He got some interesting insights out of Kdot. They speak on his self expression "If I hadn't expressed myself in the studio, who's to say he would have been listening to the album? LeBron James or the little boy around the corner, we come from the same struggles, and it comes out of my mouth for them to relate to,” Lamar says.

They talk about how success has changed things for Kdot “But it's also a challenge for me, to be at this level and still be able to connect with somebody who's living that everyday life. At first it was something I struggled with, because everything was moving so fast. I didn't know how to digest it. The best thing I did was go back to the city of Compton, to touch the people who I grew up with and tell them the stories of the people I met around the world.”

They also talk about Kendrick’s trip to Africa, confirmed that “Duckworth” is indeed a true story, discussed his inspirations on the road and more. Check out the full interview here. Enjoy!

It’s been a busy year so far for Dillon Francis. The artist has dabbled in a little bit of everything during 2017, including performing at Coachella, making an appearance on Bro Safari’s newest EP, sharing his hilarious ‘One Deeper Talks’ series and, most notably, teaming up with G-Eazy for their high energy single “Say Less.”

The official “Say Less” music video dropped today, and it’s everything we could have expected from the two artists and more. The video features a vibrant cast of characters rapping G-Eazy’s vocals, partying and an unexpected ending that makes for a whole lot of Dillon Francis smashing bottles over people’s heads. Perhaps the best part is the absolutely hysterical dialogue between Dillon Francis and Luke Hemsworth after the song ends. Altogether, the video is a perfect match for the track. Check it out below and enjoy!

Two of the most exciting names in bass music right now, Jauz and Crankdat, have finally linked up for an explosive collaboration! Both of these artists have been busy throughout this year, with Crankdat making his TSIS debut for a heavy remix of DJ Snake’s “Propaganda” with Havok Roth, and Jauz sharing heavy releases “Claim To Be,” “The Game” and much more. Today the two shared an impressive single that they teamed up to create – “I Hold Still.”

This track is an infectious combination of each producer’s style. Most unique about it is the steady rise and fall of each element. A percussion-heavy intro leads into a euphoric build-up, which wastes no time diving into a heavy drop that brings to mind Jauz’s signature bass house style. This ebb and flow of sorts persists throughout the entire track, making for a captivating signature sound. Check out “I Hold Still” below and enjoy!

[PREMIERE] Opiuo Shares Funk-Fueled Remix of GRiZ’s “PS GFY” Feat. Cherub Ahead Of ‘Good Will Continue’ Remix Album

TSIS favorite GRiZ has already had an explosive year between his electrifying reunion with Gramatik back in January for “As We Proceed” and the announcement of his impending live band debut in September. Today GRiZ’s 2017 got a whole lot bigger with the announcement of Good Will Continue, a 13-track remix album set to drop on August 18.

In honor of that announcement, we’re excited to be premiering one of the many vibrant remixes from the album: Opiuo’s funky remix of “PS GFY” feat. Cherub. This New Zealand-born producer has been in the game for nearly a decade now (he first appeared on TSIS back in 2011 for a bass-fueled remix of “Good Thymes”), designing releases that range from future-funk to glitch hop and more.

Opiuo certainly brought those years of experience to this explosive remix, completely re-imagining the track with his unique production style. A heavily distorted vocal lead, saxophone and warbly synths lead you in, with the energy only building from there. Each drop is different, with the second taking you on a deeper, more psychedelic route that keeps things fresh. Most recognizable from the original are the iconic brassy elements that make GRiZ’s tracks so authentically his own. Stream the exciting new remix below and be sure to check out the full "Good Will Continue" track list + upcoming GRiZ tour dates. Enjoy!

ODESZA Share New Video Detailing Their Creative Process [Watch]

In anticipation of their forthcoming album, Odesza and Native Instruments have teamed up to give fans a four-minute video that walks through Harrison and Clayton’s creative processes behind the productions that become the Odesza tracks we know and love. Throughout the video, the two elaborate on the idea of always pushing the boundaries when in the studio to create sounds that even themselves are not always comfortable with.

“We usually will print the synth sound into the track itself and build it. So, basically it kind of makes it easier to make mistakes, and we found that mistakes really lead to the most interesting ideas.” – Clayton

The two also touch on the new album briefly, describing that they are not necessarily exploring a completely new sound, but instead redefining their old sound with more technical knowledge.

“This newest album is a lot more about, I think, growth and progression and maturity. I don’t think we’re trying to reinvent the wheel, it’s just us pursuing our sound to the fullest.” – Harrison

Watch the video in full to hear the duo talk about topics such as being from the Northwest, their preferred hardware and how they create their unique sounds. Odesza’s album is slated to drop September, 8th. Enjoy!

Lane 8 has added another energetic track to his collection of deep house songs with “March Of The Forest Cat.” This tune follows up his latest effort “Little Voices” and continues the dreamy, euphoric vibe captured in this and other releases. Lane 8 tightens up his production on this one, with an evolving, brassy synth, tight claps, and sizzling hi-hats. He creates a hauntingly catchy ambiance as the energy builds with pumping kicks and deep bass.

“March Of The Forest Cat” is a favorite from Lane 8’s live sets, and it is available now on his own This Never Happened record label. In less than a decade, he has started a successful record label, broken the world record for most Grammys from an electronic music artist, and played countless sold-out shows and headlining festival gigs. Entrepreneur, author, and YouTuber Evan Carmichael has done us the favor of handpicking Skrillex’s top ten rules for success from a variety of sources.

"Make music for the 16-year-old inside yourself even when you’re 50 years old. F*** the craft. Everyone can learn how to do this s***…Cultivate your own thing. Stick together and just do that. Have some fun, make some music. If it’s fun – that’s all that matters." –Skrillex

"Part of what we look for in an artist is not really someone that makes great music, but it’s someone that has that energy, that devotion to what they’re doing, and that’s a big thing, man. That’s what I look for in the artists that I sign – are people that are really talented and people that have that energy like ‘I’m just gonna do it.’" – Skrillex

As with other videos in his Top Ten series, Carmichael has put together a collection of interviews and motivational speeches from Skrillex. He points out themes in different quotes and has compiled them into a comprehensive list detailing what success means to Skrillex. These give insight into Sonny Moore’s world and share some words of wisdom for aspiring producers and budding professionals alike. Check out the list and full video below and enjoy!

Skrillex’s Top Ten Rules For Success:

We recently had the pleasure of launching our new Wave Tape series alongside labels Next Wave and Moving Castle we've been incredibly excited to present to you all. Now we officially have the first mixtape coming from Next Wave co-founder and TSIS favorite, Bearson, who we also had the pleasure of doing an interview with below.

This series brings new mixtapes from some of our favorite artists paired with parties at the Next Wave / Moving Castle storefront in LA that we've been live streaming from the TSIS Facebook page. Bearson has never disappointed us and this mixtape is no different. He seamlessly mixes 40 tracks packing everything from unreleased IDs to some of his own originals and others from Lido, Manila Killa, Jerry Folk, Flume, Rufus Du Sol and many many more throughout. With this mixtape, Bearson not only shows off his mixing abilities, but also showcases his impeccable ear and taste making abilities.

Also each of our live streamed parties have been next level so far so if you have a chance to check one out in LA, be sure to RSVP next time. Check out the interview and tracklist below. Enjoy!

Wave Tape Volume 1: Bearson

You're a co-founder of Next Wave Records. Tell us a little bit about how the label came together.

It started out with Braedon reaching out to manage me and we just started talking online... From there, we came up with the concept of Next Wave and as the idea developed we decided to build it together, find dope music, and really just try to push great music. We built it to not be a typical label, we wanted it to be more of a label driven by artists.

What are some of your favorite releases that you guys have put out to date?

It's Strange by Louis The Child is definitely one that comes to mind. It was one of the biggest releases to date and it really catapulted their career into something crazy. I really like all of the music that we put out, it's kind of the key to the label. It's important that every song we put out is a track that we truly believe in.

In terms of your own artist project [BEARSON], what can fans of look forward to next?

I have an upcoming single with Mr. Hudson. I've also been working on a bunch of other stuff for myself and for other artists in terms of writing and producing...so right now I've just been balancing my own project, as well as others.

Who are some of the artists that you've been working with?

I've been working on BØRNS' project, St. Lucia...I also went to Nicaragua recently and got to work with Tove Lo, Carly Rae Jepsen, Walk The Moon, Foxes, Stargate and then a few others as well.

Do you play any instruments?

We just got a piano in the house so I've started to learn and play around with it. I also have been playing the guitar for a while. I'm still getting better and have really been enjoying it, it makes the creative process a bit better.

Back to the label and the new 'Wave Tape' series. What is the story and intention behind it?

It's mainly to showcase talented artists and build an intimate setting for engaged fans. They get a chance to meet the artist, learn more about them, meet them in person, and recognize them as more than just a character on social media. Beyond that, it's really to bring together the music community.

The debut 'Wave Tape' was last week in LA and it featured yourself, Sweater Beats, and others. Tell us about the mix and some of the unreleased IDs we caught in the mix.

This set was just all about putting in the music that I like and not necessarily ...idk....it's just fun to me to jump around to different genres and not really stick to one thing, because I enjoy so many different types of music. There are a few surprises in there that aren't released yet, that you'll get to hear later.

This Thursday is the 2nd Wave Tape with Manila Killa and Robotaki. Do you guys have other Wave Tapes in motion for this summer? Any details that you can give us on who they may be with?

We're working on getting a bunch of cool people. We want to engage bands, singers, and even visual artists...not just Soundcloud DJs. There is definitely a bunch of dope stuff on it's way.

A frequent TSIS favorite, GoldLink released his debut album titled At What Cost this past march and since has become one of the hottest growing hip-hop artists in the game. He is an incredibly versatile artist, able to modify his voice to fit the theme of any song as he exhibits in this cover.

The cover definitely does the original justice, keeping the integrity but making the GoldLink touch inevitable. He sings the song incredibly well, showing to viewers that he is more than just a rapper, but rather a skilled vocalist and artist. The cover is, for the most part, the same as the original. However, receives an original verse from Hare Squead, who have worked with GoldLink in the past on tracks such as “Herside Story”. Enjoy!
